A Teacup and Toy Dog Wardrobe for Every Season

The Toy & Teacup Dog Clothes Guide › A Teacup and Toy Dog Wardrobe for Every Season

From Houndz in the Hood, based on the fitting notes of founder Terri Goodwillie, who has made breed-fitted dog clothes in New York City since 1999. Updated October 2026.

Short answer: build a tiny dog’s wardrobe around bodysuits: a winter fleece or Windblock bodysuit for walks, an Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit for fall and spring, Jammies for sleeping and Rompers for heat, sun and air-conditioning. Sweaters and shirts are nice extras, but the bodysuit is the better choice in every season.

Winter

Outside, your dog needs full coverage of the chest, belly and legs. Choose by your coldest walks:

Fall and spring

Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits ($40) are a midweight fleece that resists wind and rain. They are made for fall and spring in northern climates and all winter in mildly cold regions, and they can be worn inside for lounging too.

Summer

Rompers ($32) are stretchy cotton bodysuits for air-conditioned houses and cars, camping trips and plane rides, and sun protection. They can be wetted down to keep your dog cool in the sun.

Nights, all year

Jammies ($34) are a light, warm micro chamois fleece for lounging and sleeping, with no velcro, zippers or clasps.

Extras

Embroidered Fleece Sweaters ($27), Heavyweight Sweatshirts ($27) and Lightweight Shirts ($25) are fun extra layers. When you are choosing what your dog will actually wear most, pick the bodysuit for the season.

A simple starter wardrobe

  1. One winter bodysuit matched to your climate
  2. One Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit for in-between weather and the house
  3. One pair of Jammies for sleeping

Wet days

Rain and slush call for a bodysuit too. The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits resists wind and rain, the Heavy Fleece Bodysuit resists wind, rain and snow, and the Windblock styles have a water-repellent outer fleece that also fights off stains. On a warm, drizzly day, a Romper keeps your dog dry.

Travel and adventures

For trips, pack bodysuits. The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit is made for traveling, hiking and camping, and Rompers suit camping trips, plane rides and air-conditioned cars. Add Jammies for the hotel bed.

One size chart for the whole wardrobe

Every Toy & Teacup style uses the same two sizes, 8 (Teacup) and 10 (Toy), so once you know your dog’s size you can build the whole wardrobe from it. The one exception: the Windblock Hooded and both Extra Heavy Windblock bodysuits come in size 10 only, so a size 8 Teacup’s winter bodysuit is Heavy Fleece, Extra Heavy Fleece or Windblock Fleece.
