The Toy & Teacup Dog Clothes Guide › Teacup and Toy Dog Pajamas and Rompers: What to Wear Indoors
From Houndz in the Hood, based on the fitting notes of founder Terri Goodwillie, who has made breed-fitted dog clothes in New York City since 1999. Updated October 2026.
Short answer: for sleeping and lounging, choose Jammies. For air-conditioning, travel and sun, choose Rompers, our stretch cotton bodysuits. For a cool house, the Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits covers your dog from chest to legs and can go straight outside too.
Indoor bodysuits compared
| Style | Fabric | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jammies | Micro chamois fleece | Lounging, sleeping, staying cozy day and night | $34 |
| Rompers | Stretchy cotton | Air-conditioning, camping trips, plane rides, sun protection, drizzle | $32 |
| Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits | Midweight fleece | A cool house, lounging and sleeping, and chilly walks | $40 |
Jammies for sleep
Jammies are light and warm, made of the micro chamois fleece used for babies’ clothes. They have no velcro, zippers or clasps, nothing to itch, and are machine washable and dryable. If your tiny dog burrows under blankets at night, Jammies are the bodysuit for bedtime.
Rompers for heat, sun and travel
Rompers are made of stretchy cotton. They suit air-conditioned houses and cars, camping trips and plane rides, and sun protection for a dog sensitive to the sun. They keep your dog dry in a drizzle, and you can wet them down to keep your dog cool in the sun.
What about shirts and sweatshirts?
Our Lightweight Shirts ($25) are breathable stretch cotton, and Heavyweight Sweatshirts ($27) are heavy fleeced cotton for a chilly house. They are nice extras, but for indoor wear the bodysuit is the better choice: Jammies for sleep, Rompers for air-conditioning, and Indoor/Outdoor for a cool house.
Fit indoors
Jammies and Rompers come in the same two sizes as our bodysuits, 8 (Teacup) and 10 (Toy). See how to measure.
A day in bodysuits
- Morning walk on a chilly day: the Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits, which resists wind and rain.
- Afternoon in the air-conditioning or the car: a Romper.
- Evening on the couch and bedtime: Jammies.
Each one covers the chest, belly and legs, and each stretches on with no velcro, zippers or clasps.
Care
Jammies are machine washable and dryable. Rompers wash in cool water and dry on low heat. The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit washes in cool water and tumble dries on low.
Jammies or Indoor/Outdoor?
Both are fleece bodysuits a tiny dog can lounge and sleep in. Jammies are a light micro chamois fleece made for the house and bed. The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit is a midweight fleece that also resists wind and rain, so it can go straight from the couch to a chilly walk. If you are choosing just one, think about where your dog spends the most time: Jammies for a dog who mostly lounges and sleeps at home, Indoor/Outdoor for a dog who also goes out on chilly walks.
