Want full coverage? Choose a bodysuit
Heavy Fleece Sweaters cover the chest and front legs, but a four-leg bodysuit also covers the belly and legs, where dogs lose the most heat, so a bodysuit is always the better choice for walks. Try Italian Greyhound Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits for in-between weather and inside, or Heavy Fleece Bodysuits for cold walks.
Fitted to the Italian Greyhound
Houndz in the Hood began in 1998 with a fleece suit for Matisse, founder Terri Goodwillie’s Italian Greyhound, who shivered on every New York City winter walk. Our Italian Greyhound patterns start from AKC breed measurements and are refined on real dogs, so it follows the deep chest, high tuck and long, thin legs instead of hanging loose like a generically sized coat.
Choosing a size
Measure length (base of the neck to the base of the tail) and girth (the widest part of the chest, behind the front legs):
- Size 14: length 13-14", girth 15-16.5", 7-11 lbs
- Size 16: length 15-16", girth 17-19", 11-16 lbs
- Size 18: length 17-18", girth 19.5-21", 16-23 lbs
Most adult Italian Greyhounds have a chest 2-2.5" larger than their length. If your dog is between sizes, a mix, or under 14 months old, see the Italian Greyhound sizing guide or contact us with the measurements and we’ll help you choose.
