Pug, French Bulldog and Boston Terrier Clothes Guide › A Pug, French Bulldog and Boston Terrier Wardrobe for Every Season
From Houndz in the Hood, based on the fitting notes of founder Terri Goodwillie, who has made breed-fitted dog clothes in New York City since 1999. Updated October 2026.
Short answer: build the wardrobe around two bodysuits: a Heavy Fleece Bodysuit for cold winter walks and an Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit for chilly days, the house and travel. A sweater or sweatshirt can be a handy extra layer, but the bodysuits do the real work.
Winter
For cold, windy winter weather, choose the Heavy Fleece Bodysuits ($60). It is a thick, warm fleece that resists wind, repels rain and snow and insulates the body. It covers the whole body, including the chest and legs, and is designed for walking, running in the snow and going to the bathroom. It is for outside wear only, so take it off when you come in.
In mildly cold regions, the Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits can be worn all winter long.
Fall and spring
The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits ($52) is the choice for the in-between seasons in northern climates. Its midweight fleece resists wind and rain and is comfortable for walking and playing. Because it is a full bodysuit, it keeps the chest, belly and legs covered on a chilly morning, which a sweater or sweatshirt cannot do.
At home
The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit is made to wear inside as well, for lounging and sleeping. If your house runs cool, it is the piece to reach for.
Travel and adventures
Traveling, hiking or camping? The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits is made for those adventures too. It stretches for easy on and off, has no velcro, zippers or clasps, and is machine washable in cool water and tumble dry on low.
Rain and snow
Wet days are where full coverage pays off. The Heavy Fleece Bodysuit repels rain and snow and covers the belly and legs, the parts that pick up slush and puddle splash. The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit resists rain on a chilly, damp fall or spring walk. Both are machine washable, so a muddy suit goes straight in the wash.
Extras for variety
- Heavy Fleece Sweaters ($42): soft, thick fleece that covers the chest and front legs, with a turtleneck. Even the knit-look styles are fleece and won’t itch.
- Heavyweight Sweatshirts ($32): heavy fleeced cotton for the transitional seasons, travel and lounging.
Both are fun to have, but they leave the belly and back legs uncovered. For walks, choose a bodysuit.
A simple starter wardrobe
- One Heavy Fleece Bodysuit for winter walks
- One Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit for chilly days, the house and trips
- A second Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit, or a sweater or sweatshirt, to wear while the first is in the wash
The two bodysuits together come to $112, and adding any third piece takes an order over $125, which ships free in the US. All four styles come in the same 3 sizes; see how to measure.
