Short answer: indoors, choose a bodysuit made for the house. Jammies for sleeping and lounging, cotton Rompers for air-conditioning, sun and travel, and an Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit for a cool house. Sweatshirts and shirts are extras.
Indoor bodysuits compared
| Style | Fabric | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jammies | Micro chamois fleece, light and warm | Sleeping under the covers or on top, lounging day and night | $40 |
| Rompers | Stretchy cotton | Air-conditioned houses and cars, camping trips, plane rides, sun, drizzle | $38 |
| Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuits | Midweight fleece | A cool house, and outside on mild days | $45 |
Jammies: for sleep
Miniature Jammies are made of micro chamois fleece, the kind worn by babies. They are light and warm and comfortable day and night. Like our other bodysuits, they stretch to go on with no velcro, zippers or clasps, and they are machine washable and dryable. If your dog burrows under blankets at night, Jammies give that cozy feeling without the blanket.
Rompers: for heat, sun and travel
Rompers are a stretch cotton bodysuit. They are made for air-conditioned houses and cars, camping trips and plane rides, and for sun. They keep your dog dry from drizzle, work for agility practice and warm-ups, and are comfortable to sleep in. On a hot, sunny day you can wet them down to help keep your dog cool. They have a discreet leash opening on the back and machine wash cool.
Indoor/Outdoor: for a cool house
The Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit is the one fleece bodysuit made for inside as well as out. Its midweight fleece is comfortable for lounging and sleeping inside, and resists wind and rain on a chilly walk, so there’s no need to change at the door.
Extras: sweatshirts and shirts
Heavyweight Sweatshirts ($28) are heavy fleeced cotton, handy in a chilly house. Lightweight Shirts ($27) are breathable stretch cotton for everyday wear. Both are nice extras, but for full coverage at home the bodysuits above are the better choice, because they cover the belly and all four legs.
Don’t wear winter fleece inside
Heavy Fleece, Windblock and Extra Heavy bodysuits are for outside only. Windblock fleece should never be worn inside. Take them off when you get home and switch to Jammies or an Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit.
A simple indoor routine
- Morning walk in the winter bodysuit that suits the weather.
- Back inside: switch to an Indoor/Outdoor Bodysuit or Rompers, depending on how warm the house is.
- Bedtime: Jammies.
Every one of these is a bodysuit, so your dog stays covered from chest to back legs all day.
Fit indoors
